TripAdvisor currently lists 902 hotels on the small island of Bali, and a great number of these hotels are extremely luxurious with prices to match! As well as beachside properties, the spiritual heart of Bali is actually in the lush and verdant rural countryside in Ubud, where once again these luxury hotel companies have been building their accommodation, so in Bali a room with a view of the jungle is just as spectacular as a room with a view of the ocean!
I don’t think many more words are needed, so here I am going to showcase in no particular order 10 of the very best hotels I have come across in the expensive honeymoon island of Bali:
Conrad Bali, Nusa Dua
A firm favourite with families, the Conrad Bali Hotel is located on the Nusa Dua peninsula on the south of the island, and has one of the finest swimming pools in Bali! All ground floor rooms have access to the lagoon pool, and the famous wedding chapel has provided many a traveller with a picture postcard! Check out my own personal review of the Conrad!
Alila Resort, Uluwatu
Alila Uluwatu is probably my favourite of the bunch. I just love the design of the place. Situated in the south west of the island, famous for rough waves and even rougher monkeys, this Alila property is known all around the world as being one of the best hotels in existence! Just look at that pool!
Sofitel, Nusa Dua
What I love most about the large Sofitel Bali Hotel, located in Nusa Dua, is the main pool and general design of the buildings. It is very green in appearance, despite being located on its own private beach, and this gives the guests the best of both worlds!
Known to be one of the top hotels in Ubud, The Maya Ubud Hotel takes advantage of the its lush jungle setting and the design of its pool is incredible! Maya also has one of the finest spas in Bali!
Le Meridien, Jimbaran Bay
As well as having amazing rooms, the thing I most fell in love with at Le Meridien Hotel in Jimbaran Bay is the design of the hotel around the central pool area. It looks like a fantastic haven in which to sunbathe and frolic in the Balinese sun!
Ayana Resort, Jimbaran
Ayana Resort is also situated on Jimbaran Bay (where I once got back food poisoning!) and is known all over Asia for its incredible Rock Bar. For me, the best bar I have ever been to! So amazing to watch and listen to the waves as you down a Bintang or two!
Amandari, near Ubud
Unquestionably the most expensive hotel on this list, Amandari is the boutique resort in Ubud from the prestigious Aman Resorts Group. Rooms here cost at least £500 per night, even in the low season, but you get what you pay for. Truly amazing, and has integrated itself in the natural surroundings over the years, to make it look even more authentic.
Viceroy Bali, Ubud
A world famous hotel, the Viceroy Bali overlooks verdant jungle on one side and rice paddies on the other. Very expensive to stay here, but the design of the rooms with the private plunge pools make it all worthwhile.
Intercontinental Resort, Jimbaran
Another family resort with a high reputation is the Intercontinental Bali Resort in Jimbaran. It is one of the traditional hotels on Bali, and has a long history of excellence. A big resort, with an amazing swimming pool and beachfront location, it is not a surprise to know it’s a family favourite.
Komaneka at Tanggayuda, Ubud
Komaneka have 4 properties in Ubud, Bali, and I this on, Komaneka at Tanggayuda, is undoubtedly the best. A stunning pool, with stunning service make this small resort one of the highest rated hotels on the whole island!
So I hope that has whetted your appetite for some of Bali’s most luxurious hotels! Sometimes, the pictures don’t always do the hotels and resorts justice, but it does give an indication as to the kind of atmosphere and ambience you will find once you arrive.
